During one week each November, thousands of events and competitions in 170 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors. Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organizations. GEW is held November 12-18, 2018.
To mark GEW 2018 in Sierra Leone, GEN SL , Innovations SL and the British Council is organising a Start up Expo.
The aim is to showcase promising and innovative startups of all stages, offering them an opportunity to showcase their company to experts, local investors, accelerators, students, potential hires, city government, and other local partners.
The Start up Expo is part of the celebrations in Sierra Leone to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week 2018.
The Start up Expo is also taking place on the 75th anniversary of the British Council in Sierra Leone. The British Council’s vision across Sub-Saharan Africa is to focus on creating opportunities and enabling young people to fulfil their potential – improving their employability, resilience and networks.
Given the significant employability challenges faced by many countries in the region, including Sierra Leone, we want to contribute to this agenda by investing significant resources in Skills and Enterprise programmes, with a focus on Social Enterprise and Creative Entrepreneurship.
