Tell us about your startup/business. What’s your 30 second elevator pitch?

Auto-smart irrigation system is a company set in providing technological solutions with a smart irrigation system for smart agricultural farming. It is a user-friendly, affordable, efficient irrigation management system and water delivery technology for better water use in agricultural farming.

What need or problem are you solving?

•Inconsistent rainfall. (Drought, climate change).
•Seasonal cropping, depends on only raining season for farming.
•Lack of Pest and dieses control measures.
•High labor intensive for farmers in using watering can.

How did you come up with the idea for the business?

After conducting numerous of research as an innovator and an entrepreneur, I was able to develop a workable prototype of the solution in water harvesting, management and deliver system it works perfectly as propose and I sees that I could develop it in to an MVP for commercialization

How did you validate that your solution was viable?
An experimentation was conducted which was tested and approved by Tec experts. It works effectively and effecient than watering can and desel water pumps which the farmers use as alternatives to water their farm lands. And also some farmers has been demanding for our system to do installation for them.

What stage are you at and what’s next?
I’m on branding and registration of the company.
And I’m hoping next to see my business scale up and established in my part of Africa.

What is the biggest win you have had so far?
$4000 seed capital for experimentation provided by the UNDP Accelerator Lab team.
And also undergone 6 months skill training course at the Limkokwing University of creative technology.

What has been the biggest challenge you have had to overcome as a startup founder?
little or no Financial assistance in scaling up or establishment of my company.

What needs do you have to grow and take it to the next level?
Product development and innovative and motivated team.

What’s your take on the local startup scene / entrepreneurial community? What has been helpful?
My take is that entrepreneurship is driven by innovative approach and it is a tool that can be used to help. It brings about bold solution to most of our challenges we faced and our environment.

What do you think as entrepreneur would be more helpful to have here in the region?
Establish a Science Technology Engineering and Math- STEM platform and learning to help develop more innovative problem solution and more entrepreneur.
And also access to grants or loans for start-up entrepreneurs.
